DIY: Vinyl Butterflies
The vinyl butterflies are relatively easy to make (relatively meaning possible), but be careful and you might want clear your schedule for the day. This is a DIY you won’t want to miss – here’s how these butterflies transformed from old vinyl records. (We found our vinyl records at a thrift store. We do NOT recommend using any favorites of yours/your parents’. ha.)
Line a cookie sheet with tin foil and place the record on top.
Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees and place the cookie sheet on the top rack of the oven. Take the record out once it gets very floppy and soft (about 45 seconds).
Use sharp scissors to cut out the butterfly shape. If the record begins to get hard, place it back into the oven until it softens. The record will cool fast, so cut quickly. You will have to place in the oven several times.
You’re almost done!
Now that the butterfly is completely cut out, begin to softly bend the wings upward for a 3D effect.
